Photofacial Treatment for Vascular and Pigmented Lesions at Hideaway IV & Aesthetics

For the removal of vascular and pigmented lesions on the face. The benefits of laser treatment over alternative therapies may include improved therapeutic results in a very precise manner which limits injury to surrounding skin with fewer complications. Some redness may occur in the treatment area immediately following treatment; however, it should subside within several hours. Final treatment results should be evident 10-14 days after treatment for vascular lesions and within 2-3 weeks after treatment for pigmented lesions.

Conditions that can be treated with this laser:

• Facial Telangiectasias – surface veins caused by dilation of capillary vessels or arterioles.
• Cherry Angiomas – slightly raised, red lesions.
• Spider Angiomas – slightly raised, red spider-like lesions
• Pigmented lesions – flat brown spots, age spots, or elevated brown or black lesions.

Treatment may vary depending upon patient characteristics and the area being treated. Treatment sessions typically take 10-15 minutes. Patients are advised to remove make-up in the treatment area and to avoid tanning prior to scheduling a treatment. Jen will use a pen-like hand piece to direct a beam of laser light to the lesion. Patients may feel a slight stinging sensation during treatment. Some redness may occur in the treatment area immediately following the treatment; however, it should subside within several hours. Any swelling will go away within 1-2 days. You may want to use anti-bacterial ointment on the treated area for a short period of time and staying out of the sun is highly recommended during the healing process.

How Does IPL Work?

Broad spectrum pulsed light is transmitted through a continuously cooled applicator, gently placed over the skin. The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the relevant chromophores and damages them (blood chromophores when treating vascular lesions and melanin chromophores when treating pigmented lesions). The body’s natural processes then clear the lesion debris, giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance.
